Byron Miguel Lima Oliva
One of the principal suspects in the assassination of Juan Jose Gerardi.Son of Colonel Byron Disrael Lima Estrada.
A captain in the army, he has been trained in intelligence and counterintelligence. He served in the Presidential General Staff, elite Army Corp and as aide-de-camp to former presidents Ramiro de Leon (1993-96) and Alvaro Arzu (1996-2000).
For four months, he was part of the Blue Helmet unit of the United Nations stationed in Cyprus. He is a specialist in martial arts.
He was dressed in full military form as an Army official as the court heard his sentence.
