Daniel Lester Carswell

Born in the United States. Arrived in Cuba on August 17, 1960 after having been contacted in the U.S. by CIA official Robert L. Sweet, given Carswell’s training as an electronic engineer and former army communications official between 1942 and 1956. He also worked as an employee for the U.S. Defense Department from 1951 to 1959. He came to Cuba with the mission of installing secret listening devices directed against the Chinese agency Xinhua. He was discovered on September 15, 1960 and convicted under trial number 474. He later permanently left the country.
