John Maples Spiritto

Born in the United States. Illegal CIA agent who infiltrated the Escambray mountain range in 1958. He was arrested in Villa Clara after the triumph of the Revolution as the ringleader of the counterrevolutionary organization Clandestine Second Front of Escambray. His CIA contacts at the time were Frank Sturgis and Van Horn. He was sentenced under trial number 32/63. Upon his release several years later, he left the country to go to the United States.
