Luis Garcia Pontaza

On January 21, 2001 Luis Garcia Pontaza was assassinated by gunshot to the head while being held prisoner at the Preventive Center in Zone 18 of Guatemala. He was one of the first to arrive at the crime scene of the murder of Bishop Juan Jose Gerardi and had reported that agents from the Presidential General Staff asked him to make false statements during the judicial process.
