Luis Somoza Debayle

Acting president and later dictator and president of Nicaragua from 1956 –after the execution of his father, Anastasio Somoza Garcia– until 1967.

As chief of the National Guard, his brother Anastasio Somoza Debayle, exercised tremendous influence over the national government and was elected president in 1967. Shortly after, Luis died of a heart attack.
