Porter Goss

Born in 1938 in Connecticut. He is the CIA Director during George W. Bush’s second presidential term. He comes from a well-to-do Presbyterian family and had a brilliant record as a student of Ancient Greek at Yale University. He was recruited there by the CIA.

Even before graduating from Yale, he was in the employ of the CIA. From 1960 to 1971, Porter Goss worked in the Operations Division of the CIA. Even though all references to him are classified, due to his own statements and several indiscretions it is known that he had been assigned to Operation Mongoose which had the goal of overthrowing Cuban leader Fidel Castro: for this reason he was sent to the JM/WAWE base in Miami. After having worked in various Caribbean countries, especially in Haiti, Santo Domingo and Mexico, Porter Goss was sent to France at the end of the 1960’s. It is not known what his responsibilities were.

In 1974 he began a political career, getting elected as mayor of Sanibel (Florida). Despite being a Republican, he joined forces with Democratic Governor Bob Graham and he was elected to the House of Representatives.

In 1997, he became president of the Intelligence Commission and campaigned to increase the CIA budget.

In 1998 he presided over the hearing on drug trafficking that was being held by the CIA from the 1960’s. He even eliminated the evidence collected by the Inspector General and clears the CIA.

At the end of 2001, he travelled to Pakistan with two other congressmen, Bob Graham and John Kyl, to meet with President Pervez Musharraf, the chief of Secret Services (ISI) Mahmoud Ahmad and the Taliban Ambassador Abdul Salam Zaeef.

On 11 September 2001, those same three congressmen were having a business breakfast in a top security room on the fourth floor of the Capitol building. There they received a visit from General Mahmoud Abad. The meeting dealt with the topic of opium production in Afghanistan and was interrupted by news of the Twin Tower bombings.
